Getting Ready for LSAT Test Day

LSAT

002

With the October LSAT coming up on Saturday, it is a good idea not only to think about your LSAT test strategy, but also your LSAT test day strategy. Just as you need to study for the LSAT to be prepared for the problems on the test, you need to know what to expect on test day. Here are a few tips from personal experience taking the LSAT:

 (1) Know what you need to bring to the LSAT test and get it ready the night before.

Things to remember:

-       Everything needs to be in ziplock plastic bag.

-       Make sure you have your photo ID and Admission ticket.

-       At least three sharpened #2 pencils. Mechanical pencils are not allowed and sharpeners are not provided.

-       Analog watch. This is really important. You may be in a position in the room where you can’t see the clock so you don’t want to have to rely on it. Digital watches are not permitted.

-       Remember, no electronics of any kind (including cell phones)! You don’t want to be that person who gets kicked out of the room because your cell phone goes off. Seriously, I saw it happen.

 (2) Practice your route to the LSAT test center and allow PLENTY of time.

The first time I took the LSAT in Brooklyn, there was construction on my train route on the way there. I made it, but only with seconds to spare, which threw off my whole test. Which leads me to my next point…

 (3) Mentally prepare for distractions during the LSAT test. Whether it’s a car alarm going off outside or the person in front of you tapping his or pencil on the desk, something is bound to happen. Don’t let it rattle you. Practice blocking out noise and focusing. You didn’t study for the LSAT for all the that time to let one little thing throw you off!

 (4) Eat breakfast before the LSAT and bring snacks. Even if you don’t usually eat breakfast, the LSAT test is a long haul and you don’t want your growling stomach distracting you (or anyone else). You may think that you won’t need a snack, but you’re way better off having one and not eating it than fading fast halfway through.

 (5) Get enough sleep before the LSAT. This will provide major LSAT test help! And not just the night before. Often two nights before affects you even more than the night before so make sure you sleep well tonight as well.

With these tips, you can put all the time you took to study for the LSAT to good use and make your LSAT tutor proud… Good luck!
