Meet Andrew Jungclaus, your GRE Tutor

Andrew grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia, just a few miles from the utopian religious community on which he would eventually focus much of his academic work.  He studied at the University of Pennsylvania and St. Andrews University before ultimately receiving his bachelor’s degree from the College of William and Mary.  He graduated Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude with degrees in English literature and American studies.

After graduation, Andrew worked as a freelance editor and research assistant – he’s worked on everything from histories of the American presidency to dating guides.  Later, he moved to England to pursue a master’s degree at Oxford University in ecclesiastical history, where he studied small religious groups and their effects on British and American society.  Then came a research position at Harvard’s Du Bois Institute (investigating the conception of “evil”) and after Cambridge, one more move to New York.

Andrew is currently enrolled in Columbia University’s doctoral program in Religion.  Andrew tutors students in writing, history, physics, and Spanish, the SAT, SAT subject tests and the GRE. He has worked with all kinds of students and enjoys helping them master their coursework, while hopefully developing a real interest in the content. Andrew also supports students during the admissions process; he enjoys all elements of the process from application strategy and school selection, to brainstorming a strong narrative, through to the final copyediting phase.
